How meditation changed my life and brings me joy

I was just a teenager in 1974 when the defunct Parsons College in Fairfield became Maharishi International University. I remember feeling a tinge of sadness that Parsons' century of tradition had died, and yet also a peculiar sense of pride —Transcendental Meditation (or TM) was hip after all, made famous by celebrities like the Beach Boys and the Beatles.

I know more about those celebrities than about TM’s philosophy or technique, but having meditated myself for 30 years, I share a natural affinity with others who meditate. I’m curious about this place, which Oprah Winfrey once called “America’s most unusual town,” where meditation happens twice daily in the Golden Domes that sit adjacent to one another on the campus of what is now called the Maharishi School of Management.
